  • National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has commissioned India’s largest floating solar panel farm project.
  • This farm would generate 25 MW of electricity.
  • It is located in the reservoir of Simhadri Thermal Power Station in Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
  • This is also the first solar project to be set up under the Flexibilisation Scheme, notified by the Government of India in 2018.
  • This project would provide electricity to around 7000 households.
  • Also, the water saved due to this project would be enough to supply 6700 households for a year.
  • This project will also reduce carbon emissions by at least 46,000 tonnes during its lifetime.
