NCL Pune develops indigenous nasopharyngeal swabs

The National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune has successfully developed an indigenous nasopharyngeal (NP) swab.
These swabs are used for collecting samples from the throat cavity of patients affected with Coronavirus.
The nasopharyngeal swab is a medical device with stringent specifications of quality, polymer grade, dimensions, and sterilization.
NCL has transferred the technical knowhow to a chemical company in Mumbai.
They will be able to produce 1 lakh swabs per day.
NCL is an Indian government research lab that works under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research.
