Govt issues order extending COVID-19 lockdown till 03 May

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the Coronavirus Disease 2019 lockdown will continue till 3rd May 2020.
  • Initially, the lockdown was announced from 24 March to 13 April, for a duration of 21 days.
  • The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has assessed the current situation on Coronavirus Disease 2019 in India.
  • It has recommended that strict social distancing measures need to be implemented for a further period to effectively contain the spread of the disease.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a nationwide order in this regard.
