Government forms 11 empowered groups to assist people during COVID-19 lockdown

  • Government of India has constituted 11 empowered groups to assist people during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 lockdown.
  • These groups will suggest measures to
  1. ramp up healthcare
  2. put the economy back on track
  3. assist people after the Coronavirus Disease 2019 lockdown
  • Each group has a senior member from Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretariat.
  • These groups have been formed under the Disaster Management Act.
  • The empowered groups are
  1. Group on medical emergency and management plan
  2. Group on availability of hospitals, disease surveillance & testing, and critical care training
  3. Group on essential medical equipment production, procurement, import, and distribution
  4. Group on augmenting human resources and capacity building
  5. Group on facilitating essential items supply chain and logistics management
  6. Group on coordinating with the private sector
  7. Group on economic and welfare measures
  8. Group on information, communication, and public awareness
  9. Group on technology and data management
  10. Group on public grievances
  11. Group on strategic issues related to the lockdown
