Army launches "Operation Namaste" to combat Coronavirus

  • The Indian Army has named its combat against Coronavirus as “Operation Namaste”.
  • This operation has been launched to assist the Indian government in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • This operation was launched by Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.
  • Indian Army’s Western Command has set up eight quarantine facilities for suspected coronavirus patients in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Army has also issued guidelines for the soldiers to keep themselves safe as it is difficult to maintain social distancing due to operational reasons.
