  • Every year, 1 August is observed as Muslim Women Rights Day in India.
  • On 1 August 2019 Indian government enacted a law that made Triple Talaq a criminal offence.
  • This law protects the constitutional, fundamental and democratic rights of Muslim women in India.
  • Triple Talaq is a form of Islamic divorce.
  • It allowed any Muslim man to legally divorce his wife by uttering the word talaq three times in oral, written or, electronic form.
